Interpretation of echo signals
With the exception of the positioning data, an echo signal trace contains all the information necessary for the evaluation and interpretation. Usually the signal is plotted as a function of time related to its origin. It is composed of the oscillations of the emitted frequency (between 50 kHz and 2500 kHz) and is transmitted demodulated as an envelope. The envelope of the signal response changes depending on the surface characteristics (smooth, fissured, and so on) and shape of the target surface.
